HAUPT RACING TEAM TO FIGHT FOR THE TITLE IN THE GT WORLD CHALLENGE EUROPE SPRINT CUP IN BARCELONA

7 October, 2020 Montmeló, Barcelona

The finale of the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup will be taking place at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya this weekend with HAUPT RACING TEAM ranking in a promising championship position: Maro Engel and Luca Stolz are only 6.5 points shy of the leaders in the drivers' sprint classification despite having missed the races at the Circuit Zandvoort. With three races to go in Barcelona, the duo driving the #4 Mercedes-AMG GT3 still has excellent chances of crowning the HRT debut season with the sprint title in the renowned SRO series. Engel / Stolz will once again be chasing points under the entry Mercedes-AMG Team HRT: with a good result, the duo could also collect valuable points in the teams' sprint championship where HRT currently ranks fourth overall.

TOP-TEN RESULT FOR MERCEDES-AMG TEAM HRT AT NÜRBURGRING 24 HOURS

27 September, 2020 Nürburg

Mercedes-AMG Team HRT came home eighth and ninth to claim two top-ten finishes in an eventful Nürburgring 24 Hours, which was characterised by many set-backs. After the #4 Mercedes-AMG GT3 crashed out of the race early on, the two remaining #2 and #6 Mercedes-AMG GT3 took up the mantel, gaining place after place to eventually finish in the top ten. The race was dominated by extremely unsettled weather and heavy rainfall. These adverse conditions forced race control to suspend the race after seven hours, with the action only resuming at 08:00 on Sunday morning.

MERCEDES-AMG TEAM HRT IN TOP TEN AFTER RACE SUSPENSION

27 September, 2020 Nürburg

As dawn broke on Sunday morning, the Mercedes-AMG Team HRT could already look back on an eventful 24-hour race at the Nürburgring. After the pole-sitters in the number 4 car had fallen foul of the adverse weather early on in the race, the remaining Mercedes-AMG GT3 – the number 2 and number 6 cars – launched a rousing fightback. At about 22:30, race control suspended the 48th ADAC TOTAL 24h Race at the Nürburgring, as the heavy rain and standing water on the track made it unsafe to continue racing. The field had to wait until 08:00 before it could take to the track again for a formation lap.

HAUPT RACING TEAM TO MISS GT WORLD CHALLENGE IN ZANDVOORT

22 September, 2020 Meuspath

Despite having a fighting chance for the title, the Haupt Racing Team has to be prepared not to start in the third round of the GT World Challenge in Zandvoort. Due to the current classification of the Federal Government of North Holland as a risk area and the associated requirements to minimise the risk of infection, there is no possibility for the Mercedes-AMG drivers Maro Engel and Luca Stolz to start. As both drivers will also be competing in the ADAC Total 24h race at the Nürburgring on the same weekend, they will not be able to commute between the race tracks according to the current C-19 guidelines. The Haupt Racing Team will therefore concentrate on the 24-hour race, where it will field three factory-fitted Mercedes AMG GT3s.
