DTM WEEKEND AT THE RED BULL RING: MERCEDES-AMG TEAM HRT TO FIGHT FOR VALUABLE POINTS

PREVIEW | 1 September, 2021 | Spielberg / Austria

After four of eight races in a so far turbulent DTM season, Mercedes-AMG Team HRT is in a good position. After recent strong performances, Maximilian Götz is in second place in the drivers' standings with HRT being one of the best teams of the competition. The race weekend at the Red Bull Ring (September 3 - 5) offers the next opportunity to score some more valuable points.

At the last DTM event at the Nürburgring, Mercedes-AMG Team HRT had entered an additional car for guest starter and team owner Hubert Haupt (GER). In Styria, as at the first three race weekends, there will be two HRT cars on the grid: Maximilian Götz (GER) will start the two races at the wheel of the pink BWT-GT3 with the #4, the sister car in the yellow and blue Bilstein design (#5) will be steered by Vincent Abril (MCO).

Maximilian Götz, Mercedes-AMG Team HRT #4: "We have shown strong performances in the last few races and are in a good position for the second half of the season. In the two races at the Red Bull Ring, we will give everything to continue the positive trend and score more important points."

Vincent Abril, Mercedes-AMG Team HRT #5: "I was happy with my performance at the last DTM event, but not with the results. I'm still optimistic though and hope to be a bit luckier – preferably as early as next weekend at the Red Bull Ring. I'm looking forward to two exciting races!"

Uli Fritz, Managing Director Haupt Racing Team GmbH: "We're hugely pleased with the great interim result halfway through the DTM season: We're right up there in both the drivers' and teams’ standings. However, the season so far has shown that the cards are reshuffled after each race. For us, it's a matter of keeping our focus and staying concentrated. Then we'll continue to be successful."
