MERCEDES-AMG TEAM HRT TRAVELS TO ZOLDER WITH A TAILWIND

PREVIEW | 3 August, 2021 | Zolder

With the first DTM victory in the still young history of Mercedes-AMG Team HRT, the squad around Lausitzring winner Maximilian Götz travels to the third DTM weekend of the season in Zolder, Belgium, with plenty of tailwind.

At the tradition-steeped circuit, where the first ever DTM race was held in 1984, the team from Meuspath will again be on the grid with two Mercedes-AMG GT3. The car with the starting number 4, in the pink design of BWT, will be driven by Maximilian Götz over the 4.011 kilometer long circuit. His teammate Vincent Abril will start at the wheel of the sister car with number five in the familiar blue and yellow Bilstein livery.

With victory in the second race at Lausitz, Mercedes-AMG Team HRT proved that it can come back all the stronger after setbacks and intends to use this momentum in Belgium to collect further valuable points for the drivers' and team standings.

Once again in Zolder up to 5,000 spectators a day will be able to watch the race live in the grandstands in compliance with a special hygiene concept.

Maximilian Götz, Mercedes-AMG Team HRT #4: "My first victory in the DTM gave me huge pleasure, also because it was the first DTM win for HRT. It was important that we put in a super team performance. We'll all take that as motivation to Zolder, where we also want to take some points again and maybe even a trophy!"

Vincent Abril, Mercedes-AMG Team HRT #5: "We have proven as a team that we actually are in the best possible position at the moment. The car has the speed for victories and we now want to build on last Sunday at the Lausitzring. If we perform like this again, we can also score important points in Belgium."

Uli Fritz, CEO Haupt Racing Team GmbH: "The first victory in the DTM gave us all a huge thrill and we learned a lot from it. However, now it's a matter of not resting on our laurels but continuing to work hard in order to be able to achieve further top results in this highly competitive series."
