It is the final test before the legendary 24-hour race at the Nürburgring (3-6 June): With the six-hour qualification race (8-9 May) this weekend, HRT has one last opportunity to collect further important test kilometres at the Nordschleife in order to be perfectly prepared for the 49th edition of the endurance classic.
The team from Meuspath will enter the race with two top-class cars, both of which will compete under the official entry "Mercedes-AMG Team HRT". The #4 Mercedes-AMG GT3 in the blue and yellow Bilstein design will be driven by Patrick Assenheimer, Adam Christodoulou and Manuel Metzger. Team owner Hubert Haupt, Nico Bastian and Patrick Assenheimer, who is eligible to drive both cars, will share the cockpit of the #6 Mercedes-AMG GT3. The car will feature the logos of milon and five, both of which belong to the milongroup, one of the leading providers of innovative training systems in the fitness and health sector.
For the Haupt Racing Team, it is the first qualifying race in the "Green Hell" in its young history. Last year, despite a cancelled dress rehearsal, HRT achieved two top-ten finishes in the 24-hour race straight away. The 8th place by the #6 Mercedes-AMG GT3 also meant the best result of a Mercedes-AMG GT3 in the top-class field of almost 100 cars. A top position at the marathon event in the Eifel region is also the declared goal in 2021. The foundation for this can be laid this weekend: With fast lap times in the qualification race, the team has the chance to secure a place in the top-qualifying session of the 24-hour race.
