As well as the races on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, the Haupt Racing Team will also line up with a Mercedes-AMG GT3 sporting the iconic Bilstein livery in the DTM in 2021. This additional commitment sees HRT and Bilstein add another high-profile marketing and communication platform to their successful partnership. The blue and yellow Bilstein GT3 will bear the #5 in the DTM and will be driven by Vincent Abril (FRA).

HRT’s pre-season preparations enter the next phase at the second official DTM test, which takes place this week (4th to 6th May 2021) at the Lausitzring. At the EuroSpeedway, former DTM driver Hubert Haupt’s team will line up with a well-known car in the colours of chassis specialists Bilstein. The blue and yellow #5 Mercedes-AMG GT3, with Vincent Abril at the wheel, will take to the grid in all 16 of this season’s DTM races. The season-opener takes place in Monza from 18th to 20th June. The Haupt Racing Team will field two GT3 cars, with extended support from Mercedes-AMG, in the iconic racing series.
The partnership in the DTM sees HRT and Bilstein extend their successful cooperation with a new marketing and communication platform with an international reputation. The chassis specialists are also the official technology partner of HRT for all its outings in the Green Hell that is the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. Here too, HRT lines up with a Mercedes-AMG GT3 sporting a full-car Bilstein livery in the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS), as well as at the legendary 24-hour race and the preceding 24h Qualification Race.
Hubert Haupt, team owner HRT
“We have had an outstanding technology partnership with Bilstein since last year, which we have recently significantly extended again – as far as the Nürburgring-Nordschleife is concerned. I am delighted that we can now also field a yellow and blue Mercedes-AMG GT3 in the DTM. We will do our best to achieve as much success as possible in the fiercely-competitive DTM environment and, in so doing, to raise further awareness of the name Bilstein.”
Timo Krutoff, CFO thyssenkrupp Bilstein GmbH
“I am very pleased with the extension of our partnership with HRT. For us, the DTM is a perfect marketing and communication platform, which is recognised internationally and has a high media reach. Strong brands like Bilstein need big stages like this. The Haupt Racing Team is an ideal partner for our visibility in the DTM. Everyone is highly-professional and passionate about their work. I am sure that HRT will soon establish itself among the top teams in the DTM.”
