PRESS INFORMATION | 7 December, 2020 |

The HRT eSports Team has claimed the first victory in its young history. In an exciting third race of the FCP Euro GT World Challenge America Esports Championship, Lucas Müller prevailed against the strong competition and secured first place in the red #55 Mercedes-AMG GT3. His team mate Lukas Müller also showed a convincing performance: his fifth place with #44 not only marked a further top position for the Haupt Racing Team at the virtual Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, but also brought him second place in the drivers' championship of the series.

  • #55 Mercedes-AMG GT3 with Lucas Müller at the wheel: 1st place
  • #44 Mercedes-AMG GT3 with Lukas Müller at the wheel: 5th place
  • Second place in the championship for Lukas Müller

The two virtual Mercedes-AMG GT3s secured a good starting position in qualifying for the one-hour race on Sunday evening. Lucas Müller (#55) entered the race in fourth position, followed by Lukas Müller (#44) in P6. Thanks to consistently strong lap times and a flawless performance, both managed to hold their own in the field of 41 participants and establish themselves in the leaders' group. Lukas Müller was already in third position after a few laps when he was spun off the track by a competitor in the first chicane and dropped back to 18th place. Thanks to a furious race to catch-up, however, he again made up several positions. Meanwhile, his team-mate Lucas Müller moved up to the front of the field, but lost first place again due to a tough overtaking move. Lucas Müller crossed the finish line in P2 after one hour, but was declared winner of the race as the first-placed driver received a time penalty for the overtaking maneuver against the HRT eSport driver. His teammate Lukas rounded out the strong overall performance with a fifth place.

Two further sim-races are scheduled for the HRT eSports Team this year. The second race of the Digital Nürburgring Endurance Series (DNLS) will start at 1 pm CET on Saturday, 19 December. The following Sunday at 9.30 p.m. CET, the fourth and penultimate simracing event of the GT World Challenge America Esports Championship will take place at the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

In real motor sports, preparations for 2021 are in full swing. The Haupt Racing Team will be competing with two Mercedes-AMG GT3s in the Dubai 24-hour race (14-16 January).
