HRT ESPORTS TEAM TO LINE UP IN VIRTUAL MOTORSPORT

PRESS INFORMATION | 30 October, 2020 |

Following its successful start at the racetrack, the HAUPT RACING TEAM is now set to reach the next milestone in its young history. Even whilst setting up HRT, the idea of an independent Esports team was firmly on the agenda. HRT is now expanding its activities into virtual motorsport with the HRT eSports Team, and has put together a promising team for this latest venture. Initial plans include outings in the Digital Nürburgring Endurance Series powered by VCO and the SRO E-Sports GT Series.

From 2021, Danny Giusa (GER) will take charge of the HRT eSports Team as team manager and driver. Joining him in the virtual pursuit of points for the HRT eSports Team will be Florian Denzler, Lucas Müller and Lukas Müller (all GER). The young squad can already point to a number of successes: For example, Lucas Müller finished runner-up overall in the first staging of the ABB Formula E Race at Home Challenge.

A close collaboration between the real HRT Team and the virtual team is also planned: In the DNLS, in which the crews must also include professional drivers from the international motorsport scene, the sim racing quartet will be ably assisted by experienced GT3 drivers from the HAUPT RACING TEAM, including Nico Bastian, Dirk Müller (both GER) and Adam Christodoulou (GBR). Furthermore, there will also be a specific area for the HRT eSports Team at the Race Base in Meuspath, which is currently in the planning stage.

Hubert Haupt, team owner, Haupt Racing Team: “We are delighted to have assembled this young and successful team. I hope we will have a similarly successful start to the one we have enjoyed on the real racetrack. We believe that virtual motorsport will grow enormously in terms of coverage and relevance in the medium to long term – the launch of the HRT eSports Team means we are well prepared for this development.”

Danny Giusa, team manager & driver, HRT eSports Team: “It is an unbelievable honour to appear for the HAUPT RACING TEAM at the virtual racetracks of this world. Sim racing is an excellent opportunity to give fans an even closer motorsport experience. In the virtual Mercedes-AMG GT3, you feel like a driver in the HRT team – that is something rather special.”
