  • Two class wins for Jordan Love and Frank Bird

With a tight gap of one point each to the championship lead, the Haupt Racing Team and Jordan Love started the season finale of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS in Zandvoort. After a successful sprint season so far with two class wins and five further podium finishes, the team from Drees wanted to reward themselves with the Silver Cup championship titles.

For the last two sprint races of the season, the dune circuit attracted a record 30 cars. The Haupt Racing Team took on the challenges of the 4.307-kilometre circuit in the Silver Class, which was strongly contested with eight driver pairings. Saturday's race started under unsettled weather conditions. On the still rain-soaked track, Jordan Love started the race from second position in the Silver Cup, which was 16th overall. At the start of the race, he was able to move up a few places and handed the #77 over to his team-mate Frank Bird as class leader. The Haupt Racing Team crossed the finish line as winners in the Silver Cup, recording their third victory of the season. Overall, it was a remarkable sixth place in the overall standings.

Due to the great performance of the previous day, the Haupt Racing Team was able to start the final race day as the championship leader. Frank Bird was able to take advantage of the difficult qualifying conditions and put the blue Mercedes-AMG GT3 #77 on pole position in the Silver Cup. The Haupt Racing Team started the final race from the second row of the grid in third position. Frank Bird coped well with the difficult conditions in the race and handed over the Mercedes-AMG GT3 #77 to his team-mate Jordan Love on course for victory in the Silver Class. At the end of an eventful race, the Haupt Racing Team secured its fourth class win of the season and a strong sixth place overall. The team from Drees was thus the strongest Mercedes-AMG in the field this weekend. The Haupt Racing Team won the Silver Cup team championship with a 17-point lead and thus ensured a perfect end to the season. In addition, Jordan Love was crowned drivers' champion in his class. Frank Bird was able to secure a fourth place in the drivers' championship despite having to miss two races. He was replaced by Alain Valente (SUI), who thus also made a major contribution to the overall success.

Jordan Love, Haupt Racing Team #77: „I'm over the moon, it's been a year of ups and downs but overall full of good results. It's as much Frank's overall win as it is mine. Thanks to him and also to the whole team for what they have done this year.”

Frank Bird, Haupt Racing Team #77: „Especially in qualifying this morning with difficult conditions, we took the risk to go out with the slicks and it paid off. A strong race from Jordan too, who brought it home for us. Thanks to everyone who made this win possible.”

Sean Paul Breslin, team principal Haupt Racing Team GmbH: „It was a great way to end the GT World Challenge Sprint Championship. The drivers did a great job this weekend. Thanks to them, to the whole team, but also to Alain who did a fantastic job when we needed him.“

Ulrich Fritz, CEO Haupt Racing Team GmbH: „An incredible weekend to finish off. It's great to see how Jordan and Frank have presented themselves. Winning yesterday, pole position again today and the second win. A big compliment to the drivers but also to Alain Valente who stepped in for two races and contributed as well. The success is a very big one and hard earned.“
