Mercedes-AMG Team HRT rewards itself with a race win for Luca Stolz (GER) at the DTM "Heimspiel" at the Nürburgring. It is the first victory for the blue and yellow Mercedes-AMG GT3 #4 of team partner Bilstein.
- Luca Stolz wins DTM heimspielat Sunday's race
- First victory for HRT team partner Bilstein
- Fastest pit stop and fastest race lap for HRT
The 27-year-old from Brachbach celebrates his first victory in the DTM, having already been successful with two second places in Portimão and at the Lausitzring. Stolz can also claim the fastest race lap and thus an extra point for the championship. In Saturday's race - which was started according to the championship standings, as no qualifying was possible due to the weather - Stolz only achieved 17th place. All the greater is his joy today, Sunday, about the victory and the fastest race lap.
Team-mate Maini, on the other hand, didn't get off to such a good start in the blue and white PAUL sister car #36 and had to settle for 15th place on both Saturday and Sunday.
Luca Stolz, Mercedes-AMG GT3 #4: „Sunday's race went perfectly for us. Coming from seventh place, I had a great start and was able to make up a few places. After the safety car phase and our perfect pit stop, I was able to take the lead and secure the win. I am very happy that we could win our heimspiel at least on Sunday. Saturday's race is now a thing of the past.“
Arjun Maini, Mercedes-AMG GT3 #36: „A very mixed weekend for me. We had the pace but couldn't make it happen. I have to accept that this weekend and keep looking forward. I am happy for Luca though and congratulate him on a well-deserved win.“
Ulrich Fritz, Chief Executive Officer Haupt Racing Team GmbH: „Luca's victory today is the reward for all the hard work we put in during the summer break. With the fastest pit stop, we were also able to prove this as a team. We can therefore chalk up an important and emotional success at our heimspiel. We are all very happy with Luca about his first DTM victory, which he more than deserves. Luca is now in 5th place in the championship - and has thus caught up again. Now we hope that we can perform just as strongly at Spa in a fortnight' time."
