MERCEDES-AMG TEAM HRT ENTERS THE SECOND HALF OF THE DTM SEASON AT THE NÜRBURGRING

PREVIEW | 23 August, 2022 | Nürburgring

This weekend, 26 to 28 August, the second half of the DTM season gets underway at the Nürburgring powered by Mercedes-AMG. Haupt Racing Team lines up in the two sprint races with two Mercedes-AMG GT3, driven by Luca Stolz (GER) and Arjun Maini (IND). Both cars start under the title “Mercedes-AMG Team HRT”.

Luca Stolz, twice a runner-up in the first four race weekends, has his sights set firmly on more podiums at the team’s two “home races” – the HRT Race Base is located right next to the Nürburgring. As usual, he will take his place in the cockpit of the blue and yellow #4 Mercedes-AMG GT3 of technology partner BILSTEIN. His team-mate Arjun Maini lines up at the wheel of the PAUL car with the number 36 on it.

The two 55-minute races will take place on the 3.629-kilometre sprint circuit of the Nürburgring, which includes the AMG Arena and the tighter layout of the Veedol chicane.

Luca Stolz, #4 Mercedes-AMG Team HRT: “I have made a good start to the season, with two podiums. After the difficult weekend in Imola, I finished in the points again twice last time out at the Norisring. In the remaining eight races, I would like to make it onto the top step of the podium and regularly finish in the points – preferably straight away at the Nürburgring. Last year, I drove my first DTM race here as a guest starter, and promptly finished in the top ten. That leads me to believe that I can make a successful start to the second half of the season at the weekend.”

Arjun Maini, #36 Mercedes-AMG Team HRT: “During the summer break, we analysed all the races so far in detail. It is now important to learn from the findings and to continue to work hard. At the Nürburgring weekend, I want to finish in the points like last year and lay the foundation for a good second half of the season.”

Ulrich Fritz, Chief Executive Officer Haupt Racing Team GmbH: “The season has been one of highs and lows for us. Our goal for the remaining races is to be more consistent and regularly finish in the points with both cars. After our successful debut season in the DTM, we obviously hope to finish on the top of the podium once or twice again this year. And we want to improve in the team competition. So, there is still plenty of work to be done. We used the short break well and are confident we are ready to perform well at the Nürburgring at the weekend.”
