FROM DTM DEBUT TO THE TITLE: ‘RAN’ TO BROADCAST DOCUMENTARY SERIES ON HAUPT RACING TEAM

PRESS INFORMATION | 22 April, 2022 |

Maximilian Götz (GER), at the wheel of the Haupt Racing Team Mercedes-AMG GT3, was crowned 2021 DTM champion at his home race at the Norisring – the team from Meuspath could not have enjoyed a more successful rookie season in the prestigious German sprint series. Ahead of the opening round of the 2022 season on 30th April, TV show ‘ran’ will look back at how the incredible story unfolded in a three-part documentary.

  • TV team accompanied HRT and Maximilian Götz on their road to the DTM title
  • Fascinating documentary series offers exclusive behind-the-scenes insights
  • First of three parts available on ran.de from 23rd April

The first DTM season of the new GT3 era ended in October 2021 with an extremely dramatic conclusion to the title race at the Norisring. In the end, Maximilian Götz pulled off a sensational achievement in the #4 Mercedes-AMG GT3 for Haupt Racing Team. The Franconian won both the final two races to overhaul a 26-point deficit and clinch a first title in the DTM Drivers’ Championship for himself and HRT!

Ahead of this year’s season-opener in Portimão, Portugal (30th April), ran.de is looking back at Haupt Racing Team’s successful first season in the DTM – from the founding of the team in the summer of 2020, the decision to enter the DTM, the challenging pre-season preparations, and the first podium on the team’s debut in Monza (Italy), right through to the decisive and nerve-racking finale at the Norisring.

The documentary, which is split into three 15-minute parts and was created by Haupt Racing Team in cooperation with fahrwerkfilm, offers a comprehensive insight into the work of a highly-professional motorsport team. It portrays the impressive performance of a tight-knit team, which is focussed on one goal and stands together, even when faced with adversity. At the heart of the action: Maximilian Götz.

The series shows the German DTM champion up close and personal, bringing the viewer closer to Götz than ever before. In moving interviews, the HRT driver looks back on his personal story, the highs and lows of last season, and why he had the perfect partner on his road to the championship, in the form of his team and the GT3 in the pink BWT livery. The first of three episodes covers the period from the founding of the team to the first four races in Monza and at the Lausitzring.

The three 15-minute episodes will be released on ran.de at 13:00 on 23rd, 26th and 29th April. They will then be available in the Mediathek as one continuous episode.

Maximilian Götz, Mercedes-AMG Team HRT #4:
“Documenting my biggest success in so much detail immediately brings back all those emotions that I felt after my victory at the Norisring. For the viewers, it will definitely be fascinating to see how a motorsport team goes about its work, and everything that needs to be taken care of at a race weekend.”

Hubert Haupt, team owner Haupt Racing Team:
“It was rather unusual to be accompanied by a camera team throughout the whole season – but the result has exceeded my expectations. The documentary gives fascinating insights and includes spectacular footage of the races.”
