PREPARATION FOR THE 24-HOUR RACE: HAUPT RACING TEAM LINES UP WITH TWO CARS AT ROUND THREE OF THE NÜRBURGRING ENDURANCE SERIES

PREVIEW | 20 April, 2022 |

HRT will again field two cars in the third race of this season’s Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS). The team not only has its sights set on a good result, but will also use the race weekend as preparation for the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring at the end of May.

Manuel Metzger and Luca Stolz (both GER) will guide the #12 Mercedes-AMG GT3 with the blue and yellow Bilstein livery through the “Green Hell” at the “53rd Adenauer ADAC Rundstrecken-Trophy”, as the third round of the season is officially known. The two drivers must this time do without Raffaele Marciello (SUI), who shared the cockpit with them in race one: The 27-year-old lines up in the ADAC GT Masters on the same weekend.

Alternating at the wheel of the #6 Mercedes-AMG GT3, which sports the colours of team partner PAUL, will be Lucas Auer (AUT), Philip Ellis (SUI) and Hubert Haupt (GER). Auer replaces Nico Bastian (GER), who contested the first NLS race together with Ellis and Haupt.

Round three of the NLS is the final opportunity for teams and drivers to amass valuable test kilometres and data on the Nordschleife before the 50th edition of the iconic Nürburgring 24 Hours (26th to 29th May) and the preceding qualification race (6th to 8th May). The NLS season continues from 25th June with a further six races, including round two, which was postponed to November. Whether or not HRT will line up again when the series resumes will be announced at a later date.
