HRT PRESENTS ITS CARS FOR THE 2022 DTM SEASON

PRESS INFORMATION | 31 March, 2022 |

Haupt Racing Team presents the new designs of the two Mercedes-AMG GT3s, with which the team will go in pursuit of points and podiums when the DTM season gets underway at the end of April. As announced in February, the cars will be driven by Arjun Maini (IND) and Luca Stolz (GER).

  • HRT presents its two DTM cars
  • #4 Mercedes-AMG GT3 in the blue and yellow BILSTEIN look
  • #36 Mercedes-AMG GT3 in full PAUL livery

Both HRT GT3 cars will line up under the team name “Mercedes-AMG Team HRT”. Arjun Maini started every DTM race in 2021 and caught the eye with some impressive displays in his rookie season. Maini again lines up with start number 36, while his GT3 sports the blue and white livery of new HRT team partner PAUL.

For Luca Stolz, this is the first full season in the DTM. The 26-year-old Mercedes-AMG Performance driver gained his first DTM experience last year, when he appeared as a guest starter at the Nürburgring race weekend. Stolz will drive the Mercedes-AMG GT3 in the iconic blue and yellow design of team partner BILSTEIN in the new DTM season. He inherits start number four, with which Maximilian Götz (GER) won the Drivers’ Championship last year.

2022 DTM season: eight rounds in five countries

The new DTM season kicks off with the race weekend at Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in the Portuguese city of Portimão (29th April to 1st May). The rest of the calendar consists of a further seven rounds, each featuring two races. Over the course of the season, the series will start in five European countries.

Round two of the DTM takes place from 20th to 22nd May at the Lausitzring, followed by a trip to Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola, Italy, from 17th to 19th June. The Norisring hosts the fourth race weekend of the season, from 1st to 3rd July.

The second half of the season starts with round five at the Nürburgring (26th to 28th August), before the DTM moves to Belgium and Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps (9th to 11th September). The teams and drivers next go head-to-head at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Austria, from 23th to 25th September, before the season finale takes place at the Hockenheimring (7th to 9th October).

Arjun Maini, Mercedes-AMG Team HRT #36:
“The start of the season in Portimão is getting closer and we have been preparing and testing to make sure we are strong on the first race. I was able to celebrate my first DTM podium last year, and now the target is to be consistently on the front positions. DTM is a very competitive championship and this year we will face a tough field, but I believe with a strong team such as HRT behind me and with Luca as my teammate we will have a successful season.”

Luca Stolz, Mercedes-AMG Team HRT #4:
“My guest start at the Nürburgring last year gave me a good impression of what the DTM is all about. I am now looking forward to the start of the season and hope to be in contention at the front of the field from race one. I obviously hope that my teammate Arjun also has a successful season. We are a good team, but we are also rivals when we are out on the track.”

Ulrich Fritz, Managing Director of Haupt Racing Team:
“Last year, in winning the DTM Drivers’ Championship, we showed that we can be consistently successful as a team. We have another strong line-up this season, with Luca and Arjun, and are full of confidence as we look to defend the title. The regulations and calendar have changed somewhat since 2020, making the racing series even more attractive for the teams and drivers – and, of course, for the spectators at the racetrack and the fans watching on their screens. We are excited to see what the new season brings and will be well prepared when it finally gets underway.”
