HRT KICKS OFF THIS SEASON’S GT WORLD CHALLENGE EUROPE IN IMOLA

PRESS INFORMATION | 30 March, 2022 | Imola / Italy

The new GT World Challenge Europe season gets underway this weekend for Haupt Racing Team. Imola (Italy) stages the first of the five events that make up the Endurance Cup within this prestigious racing series. HRT will line up at every one of the endurance races with three Mercedes-AMG GT3.

A total of 52 cars have registered for the season-opener in Imola. The #4 HRT car, sporting the livery of team partner PAUL, and the #777 – in the colours of Al Manar Financial Investments – will race in the Silver Cup. The #5 nu concept car will start in the new Gold Cup.

The new season also gets underway in the Fanatec Esports GT Pro Series, which takes place within the framework of the Endurance Cup: each car registered in the Silver Cup nominates one driver, who will take their place in the virtual cockpit for a 60-minute race, held during the race weekend. The top three participants score points towards the actual Silver Cup competition. HRT lines up in the Fanatec Esports GT Pro Series with its virtual #4 and #777 GT3s.

The three-hour race at Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari is followed by a further four endurance races, which make up the calendar for the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup: Circuit Paul Ricard in France (3rd to 5th June), the Hockenheimring (2nd to 4th September), and Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya (30th September to 2nd October). The highlight of the season is the legendary 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, from 28th to 31st July.

Sean Paul Breslin, team principal Haupt Racing Team:
“Last weekend, we kicked off the new season at the Nürburgring. The team now heads to Imola for round one of the GT World Challenge Europe. Ensuring all three cars are perfectly prepared for the race has been a big challenge. However, our entire team is now ready for the season-opener in this exciting racing series.”
